Facebook is a huge resource for email marketers. There are many ways to get subscribers with Facebook, but let’s focus on just one for the moment. If you do nothing else on Facebook to build your list, you should at least add a custom tab so Facebook visitors can signup. This can be done in less than 30 minutes. Then you can have a nice signup tab like the one below.
This is what it looks like when you click on the tab. This particular email signup form is very simple. You can dress up yours however you like, complete with testimonials and all the other opt-in form best practices that we covered in the last section.
Almost all of the major email providers now offer custom apps to add a tab to your Facebook page with just a few clicks. They make it very easy.
See this tutorial about how to create a custom Facebook tab and an email sign up form in less than 10 minutes.
Do yourself a favor and put all the people who signed up for your email list through Facebook into a separate list, or at least create a way to segment them out from the rest of your list. There will be times when you’re going to want to talk to your Facebook subscribers differently than your other subscribers.
